ShellStone Inc. is an eco-friendly, contemporary brand that represents the spirit found in the heart of Maine as its work uses reclaimed Lobster, Mussel, and Clam Shells from Maine. ShellStone products are designed to stimulate fond memories, create conversations and bring the beauty and rawness of the sea into your home.

Tamra Philbrook started her business, formerly known as Artful Wares, in 2003 as an artisan of handcrafted pieces. She began by handpicking seashells from the Maine shoreline, and soon after created a patented process that allowed her to use them for dishwasher-safe tableware.

Today, ShellStone’s product line has expanded to include gifts, accessories, dining and entertaining pieces, as well as kitchen and furniture products. And while every ShellStone piece is still made in Maine, the shells are no longer handpicked, but reclaimed via a unique partnership with local seafood processors.

From Downeast lobster dinners to summer hiking trips along the rocky coasts, the inspiration for each piece lies in special moments and memories shared with the Philbrooks’ family and friends in Maine.
